Staff Senate to host UK Remembers
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 2, 2026) — Since 2010, the University of Kentucky has honored members of the campus community through UK Remembers, a tradition dedicated to reflection, remembrance and honoring lives that have touched the UK community.
This year, the UK Staff Senate will host UK Remembers Sept. 21-25, 2026, inviting faculty, staff and students to honor UK community members who have passed away since the spring of 2022. Participants are also encouraged to recognize family members, friends and other loved ones whose memories continue to hold special meaning in their lives.
A special remembrance event will take place 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday, Sept. 23, at the William T. Young Library walkway. During the event, attendees will receive and place a memorial card in honor of someone they wish to remember. The cards will create a collective display celebrating the lives and legacies of those being honored.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in-person throughout the week or virtually through the UK Remembers online remembrance platform.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and healthcare. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $1.02 billion research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
