Load Up on Treasures at Citywide 'Y'Art Sale'

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 19, 2017) Is someone else’s junk your idea of treasure? Wonder what kind of tchotchkes artists have in their homes? Y’all here’s your chance to find out! Stop by 16 homes and workspaces of Lexington’s most creative types as part of the University of Kentucky Art Museum and Robbie Morgan’s citywide Y’Art Sale 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23. The sale will go on, rain or shine.

Participants in this first Y’Art Sale will include notable artists, educators and patrons around Lexington. The sale will feature the more traditional to unusual yard sale items: furniture, collectibles, appliances, bric-a-brac, electronics, kid's items and fashion, alongside original works of art, art supplies, etc.

“We love the idea of art enthusiasts and bargain hunters driving around town, engaging with creative individuals and finding things they just can’t live without,” Morgan said.

A portion of all Y’Art Sale proceeds will help support the UK Art Museum’s free admission policy. The sale participants representing eight Lexington zip codes are:

The mission of the UK Art Museum, part of the UK College of Fine Arts, is to promote the understanding and appreciation of art to enhance the quality of life for people of Kentucky through collecting, exhibiting, preserving and interpreting outstanding works of visual art from all cultures. Home to a collection of approximately 5,000 objects including American and European paintings, drawings, photographs, prints and sculpture, the Art Museum at UK presents both special exhibitions and shows of work from its permanent collection.
