LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2017) — University of Kentucky Education Abroad and Exchanges (UK EA) recently signed a new student exchange partnership agreement with Swansea University in Wales, United Kingdom.

Located in the city of Swansea, Swansea University has been hosting international students for more than 30 years and was recognized in 2016 by QS Top University as a World Top 200 University for International Students. Last year, Swansea won the inaugural Welsh University of the Year title. To see a virtual tour of the Swansea University campus visit www.swansea.ac.uk/virtual-tour-stand-alone/?s=campus.

"Swansea University is a great location for students looking for a longer, more immersive and independent education abroad experience," said Laurence Tuccori, UK EA exchanges coordinator. “Swansea offers a very wide range of areas of study — from American studies, English literature, economics and journalism, to biology, engineering, marine science and more — making it the perfect exchange option for UK students regardless of major."

Swansea University has over 16,000 students from more than 120 countries, providing a truly multicultural university setting. UK students can attend Swansea on exchange for an academic year, or for a spring or fall semester. For more about student life, visit https://myuni.swan.ac.uk/.

UK EA exchange programs allow UK students to attend a foreign institution while paying their regular rate of UK tuition. While abroad, students will earn transfer credit alongside other international and host country students.

UK EA exchange programs, such as this new one to Swansea University, are extremely immersive programs. Students can learn to live like the locals while experiencing a high level of independence.

Swansea University's location on the coast of South Wales gives students the opportunity to engage themselves in the Welsh history and culture of the area, including the legend of King Arthur, the 11th century Norman Conquest, and more than 600 castles across the United Kingdom. If that’s not enough, Swansea University boasts that its campus is the closest to a beach anywhere in the world.

Swansea University is one of more than 50 exchange programs available to UK students. To find more information on exchange opportunities, including how to apply, browse UK EA's exchanges webpage. For students interested in an exchange program closer to home, the National Student Exchange (NSE) offers over 200 exchange institution locations in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, Guam and more.

Exchange programs are just one piece of the UK EA program pie. For more information about all UK EA experience and program types, learn more here.
