Gatton Inducts Hall of Famers for 2010

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 16, 2010) − The University of Kentucky Gatton College of Business and Economics Alumni Hall of Fame inducted its four newest members in a ceremony this morning in the atrium of the college on the UK campus.

The 2010 inductees represent several different professions and career paths, yet all have distinguished themselves in their business pursuits and in civic and community leadership. This is the 17th class of inductees to the college's hall of fame.

 

“Induction into the Gatton Hall of Fame is a prestigious honor for our business school alumni. These four outstanding graduates are most deserving of this recognition,” said D. Sudharshan, dean of the Gatton College. “They represent dedication and integrity in the business world and in the greater community in which they live. The University of Kentucky is privileged to count these individuals among its alumni, and the Gatton College is pleased to honor them with induction into its Hall of Fame.”

           The inductees are:

  • Joseph W. Craft III, Class of 1972, is president, chief executive officer and director of Alliance Resource Partners LP (Nasdaq: ARLP), a diversified producer of coal. The company was recognized by Business Week magazine as the 14th hottest growth company in the United States in 2007 and made the annual list of 100 Hottest Growth Companies for the fifth consecutive year. In June 2008, Ernst & Young recognized Craft as “Entrepreneur of the Year” for the Southwest Region in the energy, chemical and mining category. In addition to his academic degrees from UK, Craft also is a graduate of the Senior Executive Program of the Alfred P. Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He graduated from the Gatton College at the University of Kentucky with a B.S. degree in accounting in 1972 and a J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1976. He is active in his community and his family supports social services and education in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as Kentucky, including providing funds for the Joe Craft Center at UK.
  • Richard J. Huxley, Class of 1980, is the owner of Richard J. Huxley, LLC. Huxley and has over 28 years of experience in the investment field. He retired in 2008 from Clover Capital Management as Executive Vice President, Investment with responsibilities that included overall direction of the firms fixed income department, and equity research in regulated utilities. He also was responsible for significant sales and client service efforts while at the firm. Previously, he was at Chase Lincoln First Bank, NA (and predecessor) concluding his career as Vice President and Manager, Capital Markets Forecasting Group where he was responsible for overall investment strategy and the management of the Equity Research and Trading and Fixed Income Management Departments within the Trust Investment Division. Huxley is a member of the finance committee of the Children's Institute and a current board member of the Genesee Valley Club. He is past president of the Rochester Society of Security Analysts, Inc., and a former member of the board of the United Way of Greater Rochester, Inc. He graduated from the Gatton College of Business and Economics in 1980 and was recipient of the 1980 Wall Street Journal Award for academic achievement. Huxley resides in Fairport, N.Y.
  • Henry Clay Owen, Class of 1961, joined the University of Kentucky business staff in 1964, and was appointed Controller in 1969 and Treasurer in 1982. Owen retired in January 2008 after his long tenure of 43-1/2 years, during which he was instrumental in establishing the University's automated accounting and internal control systems and effective financial systems noted for their accuracy and integrity, including cash management, investment programs and debt management. In 2007, the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees conferred upon him the title of “Staff Emeritus” in recognition of is years of service, dedication and loyalty to the university. Upon graduation, he worked three years in corporate accounting and investment banking. He received his Bachelor of Science degree (Commerce) in 1961 and his Master of Science degree (Education) in 1977, both from the University of Kentucky. He is a University of Kentucky Fellow, a Kentucky Colonel, and resides in his hometown of Paris, Kentucky with his wife of fifty years, Betty Owen.
  • Geoffrey Rosenberger, Class of 1974 and 1976, is a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) CFA Institute, formerly Association for Investment Management & Research (AIMR). He started his career with Manning & Napier Advisors, Inc. in 1976 as a Security Analyst & Portfolio Manager. In 1984, he co-founded Clover Capital Management, Inc. and was the Managing Director of this investment management firm which, subsequent to its 2008 sale to Federated Investors, is now known as Federated Clover Investment Advisors. Rosenberger now manages his personal holding company, Lily Pond Ventures, LLC. His current Board memberships include Junior Achievement of Rochester, Greater Rochester Health Foundation, Center for Governmental Research, True North Rochester Preparatory Charter School, Nativity Preparatory Academy of Rochester, Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross. He was also a Congressional Candidate in New York State 28th Congressional District in 1996. Rosenberger graduated from the Gatton College at the University of Kentucky with a BS Economics in 1974, and an MBA in 1976. He resides in Pittsford, N.Y.
