Miller Named to Newly Formed National Taskforce on Social Work Education and Regulation
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 18, 2018) — Jay Miller, assistant professor at the University of Kentucky College of Social Work, was recently appointed to oversee the Association of Social Work Board on Social Work Education Licensing and Regulation National Taskforce. The new taskforce is being formed to develop practice competencies and social work curricular resources for licensing and regulation.
Miller currently serves as chairperson for the Kentucky Board of Social Work. In that role, he oversees the board, which oversees the professional practice of social work in Kentucky. Additionally, he conducts research on professional regulation and social work licensing.
“I am really honored to have been selected for this workforce. Historically, in many professional disciplines, there has been somewhat of a schism related to educational endeavors and professional regulation. I look forward to working with this group to assuage this issue within social work, and perhaps most importantly, help to ensure that social work students are prepared for social work regulation.”
