Staff Senate Uses Instagram Account to Spotlight Staff

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 31, 2017) The University of Kentucky Staff Senate has created the Staff Selfie program to better spotlight staff who go above and beyond in their work. These individuals will be featured on the senate’s new Instagram account (@staffsenate).

Standout staff members will be contacted via email to arrange a time for the senate to take a photograph. The chosen individual will also complete a brief questionnaire to be included with the post. The hashtag #ukystaffselfie will be used as part of the initiative.

The first round of recipients was selected by members of the Staff Senate, with one exception.

“One staff member (we) selected to be featured instead preferred to have us focus on a co-worker,” Staff Senate Public Relations Chair Jon Gent said. “This is exactly what this program’s goal is — to shine a positive light on the individuals who work here every day.”

Three staff profiles have already been posted. The first was Sarah Fitzgerald, the associate director Annual Giving in the UK Office of Philanthropy. Fitzgerald is a UK alumna and has been an employee for five years. Learn more about Fitzgerald at www.instagram.com/p/BPXaBEVh9Xl/.

The second honoree was Cassie Rogers, a UK employee for 13 years and administrative services assistant in the College of Engineering. Learn more about Rogers at www.instagram.com/p/BPnOyxTBvfc/.

The third staff person, recognized just yesterday, was Taylor Blair, director of the Visitor Center. Visit www.instagram.com/ukstaffsenate for more information about Blair.
