Wyatt Selected to Serve 4th Term as CEPH President

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov 1, 2012) — Stephen W. Wyatt, dean of the University of Kentucky College Of Public Health, has been selected to serve as president of the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) for a fourth term.

“It is a pleasure to work with someone who is so committed to both quality education and public health,” said Laura Rasar King, executive director of CEPH. "I am pleased and honored that he is willing to serve as the council president for another year.”

The board of CEPH is responsible for adopting criteria by which schools and programs are evaluated, for establishing policies and procedures, for making accreditation decisions, and for managing the business of the corporation.

“It truly is an incredible group to work with; they are dedicated to partnering with schools and programs of public health and the public health practice community, to ensure our future public health workforce is well-trained,” Wyatt said. “The opportunity to serve academic public health during my five years on the council has been so gratifying.”

Wyatt is the founding dean of the UK College of Public Health since November 2004, following six years of research, teaching and service at UK, while serving as the associate director for the Markey Cancer Control Program. During his career, he has experienced public health at the local, regional and national levels, with assignments to the National Health Service Corps, Bureau of Prisons, Health Resources and Services Administration, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
