Undergraduate Research Opportunities at UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 16, 2015) — The University of Kentucky Office of Undergraduate Research invites students to apply for Undergraduate Research Abroad Scholarships and Summer Research Grants. Students are also encouraged to take advantage of the office's information sessions this spring to learn more about these opportunities or how they can get involved in undergraduate research.

Undergraduate Research Abroad Scholarships
The Undergraduate Research Abroad Scholarship (UGRAS) is a collaboration between the Office of Undergraduate Research (UGR) and UK Education Abroad (EA).  This scholarship pays up to $5,000 to a full-time undergraduate student at UK to cover the costs of a well-defined research project abroad during the summer term for approximately eight weeks. The student applying for the scholarship must be highly recommended by a UK faculty mentor with whom they have already done research. It is assumed the UK faculty mentor will recommend the student and help broker the arrangement.

The deadline to apply is March 3. More information at www.uky.edu/academy/research-abroad

Summer Research Grants
Summer Research Grants can be awarded for up to $2,000. Recipients benefit from the many varied resources available at UK — from the libraries to the laboratories — and employ a wealth of talented academic personnel addressing cutting-edge methods and technologies. Undergraduates in all areas of intellectual inquiry are eligible, and students at many different levels of matriculation have received support.

The deadline to apply is March 3. More information at www.uky.edu/academy/summer-research
