Don't Break the Piggy Bank With UK Book Bank
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 22, 2019) — Thinking about selling your textbooks back to bookstores or Amazon? Think again.
Book Bank, a University of Kentucky student organization, is hosting an information table 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, in the Gatton Student Center. Stop by the table in between classes to learn how to donate your textbooks and receive access to free textbooks.
"We hope to make textbooks accessible. We’re doing this by taking donations in the form of old textbooks, and we’ll catalogue them by class/professor," Cathryn Perini, president of Book Bank, said.
"In future semesters, students will be able to borrow the textbooks on a sort of loan program. The books will need to be returned to Book Bank by the end of the semester of use, and we’ll continue to loan them out as needed. Everything is free, so we hope to encourage the accessibility of textbooks on campus. We’d also like to encourage the sustainability that accompanies reusing textbooks."
Book Bank operates solely on donations and encourages students to donate and utilize the free program. For more information on how to donate or use this service, visit the information table or email ukbookbank@gmail.com.
