LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 7, 2016) — Using their artistic skills for a good cause, the students at the University of Kentucky’s School of Art and Visual Studies have created an exhibition that plays off the fantasies and dreams of children in the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic. The "Dreamwork" exhibit will be open 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, in the Community Gallery of the Downtown Arts Center in Lexington.

The five children that were selected to participate in the project are currently patients at the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology Oncology Clinic. Each child was given the chance to help create two digitally edited images and the resulting artwork will be donated to the families and the UK Hospital Art Collection when the show concludes.

The children’s ages range from 5 to 14 years old and each child had different dreams and aspirations to display. Whether it be an astronaut, the future president of the United States, a doctor, or superhero; their dreams were made into reality.

Brant Cornelius, DanceBlue Family Relations Chair said, “In just about all of their photos, they are portrayed as either superheroes or spectacular humans. Funny thing is, in reality, that is exactly what they are. But most importantly, they are kids! Kids who deserve to have a future filled with dreams.” Cornelius works closely with the children in the clinic three times a week, if not more when possible.

Admission to the "Dreamwork" exhibit is complimentary. Come see dreams and hopes come to life!
