A Broadway Trip Beneath the Sea

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 19, 2017) – Who said there isn’t such thing as a field trip in college? Student Activities Board (SAB) says there is! For the past few years, students have been able to take a trip to a neighboring city to see a Broadway musical at a heavily discounted rate. This year’s Broadway Trip will feature "The Little Mermaid" on Sunday, Jan. 29, at the Arnoff Center in Cincinnati!

"The Little Mermaid" is based on the classic Disney animated feature, which tells the story of Ariel, an adventurous young mermaid who’s got a thing for disobeying the rules and following her heart. A Broadway Trip, hosted by SAB, is a great way to break away from from all things stressful and enjoy the day with fellow classmates on a mini-road trip.

“The annual SAB Broadway Trips are a great way to explore another city and get a break that college students would not usually get,” said Julia Nickle, director of Cultural Arts. “Broadway Trips are incredibly fun, enriching and entertaining events, especially when they revamp childhood classics like 'The Little Mermaid.'”

There are limited spots available. Students can purchase tickets now at the ticket center in Bowman’s Den. Student tickets are $25 and $50 for faculty and staff. Transportation and lunch will be provided for all attendees. It’s preferred to arrive at the Wildcat Statue at 10:30 a.m. the morning of the trip, buses will depart at 11 a.m.

SAB brings more than 60 entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff and the greater Lexington community.
