Cheap Seats Opening Act: 'Iron Man 2'

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 25, 2010) – It may be the first week of school, but with summer air still lingering, it’s the perfect time to enjoy an outdoor movie. The Opening Act film for the Cheap Seats series, "Iron Man 2," will be shown at 10 p.m. tonight, Aug. 25, at Haggin Field. This event is sponsored by the Student Activities Board (SAB).

Wealthy inventor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) -- aka Iron Man -- resists calls by the American government to hand over his technology. Meanwhile, Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke) has constructed his own miniaturized arc reactor, causing all kinds of problems for our superhero. Sam Rockwell, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle and Samuel L. Jackson co-star in director Jon Favreau's sequel based on Marvel comic book characters.

The Cheap Seats series runs throughout the year, typically every Tuesday and Wednesday, where you can watch the latest and greatest movies for only a dollar at Worsham Theater in the Student Center! For this special event, the showing of Iron Man 2 is free. There will also be free T-shirts and calendars with the movie schedule for the semester so you will never miss any cinema events on campus.

"Showing movies brings UK students together." said Brad Elliot, director of SAB’s cinema committee. "'Iron Man 2' is the first of twelve movies that will be showing this semester. Opening Act is a great, free opportunity for students to unwind after the first day of class and socialize with each other."
