Collegiate Recovery Community Will Host Open House in New Space

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 1, 2017) — Last April, the University of Kentucky established a Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC). The CRC is dedicated to empowering students recovering from addictive disorders to achieve academic, personal and professional success while maintaining recovery.

The CRC provides a safe and supportive community for students in recovery, including a positive social atmosphere with like-minded peers, dedicated and qualified recovery staff and an emphasis on developing as productive members of society.

The CRC will be hosting an open house from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Friday, March 3, in their new student lounge located in Room 237 in Blazer Hall. All students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the open house, see the CRC's new space and discuss UK's recovery resources. Coffee and donuts will be provided.

“The new CRC location will provide students in recovery an opportunity to utilize a space that is all their own," said Kelsey Otten, prevention coordinator. "The CRC lounge creates a stronger sense of community. We’re excited to see how the program continues to develop in the upcoming academic year, especially in conjunction with the CATS for Recovery LLP."
