LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 14, 2017) University of Kentucky Confucius Institute (UKCI) will host its third International Student Night reception 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Hilary J. Boone Center. All UK students are welcome to join the fun.

The event will feature Chinese games, putting on traditional Chinese costumes, a Chinese traditional musical instrument performance, a catered Chinese dinner and a student forum, where international students and local students will share their experience and insight on their journey to America and China, as well as their student life at UK.

During the reception, Huajing Maske, director of UK Confucius Institute (UKCI) and executive director of the Office of China Initiatives (OCI), will introduce UKCI’s programs and opportunities for students and present awards to recipients of UK Chinese Speech and Essay Competition.

The Student Night is a great place for UK students, local and international, to come together to share their cultures and experiences. Participants include fellows from Gaines Center for the Humanities, representatives from Student Government Association, Student Activities Board, and International Student and Scholar Services, as well as students from the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, Literatures and Cultures.

A gateway for Chinese language, culture and art to the people of Kentucky, the UK Confucius Institute provides leadership, support and coordination for Chinese language and programs in K-12 schools as well as on UK's campus; assists and facilitates establishing and maintaining faculty and student exchanges between UK colleges and Chinese universities; conducts Chinese language and cultural exchange; and promotes education about China on campus, across the Bluegrass region, and throughout the Commonwealth.
