LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 7, 2010)
– Students have been on campus for just over two weeks now, getting acclimated with campus life, and now is the perfect opportunity to reach out and get engaged in the Lexington community. UK’s Center for Community Outreach is hosting its annual Student Volunteer Fair on campus from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Student Center Patio on UK’s campus (rain location is the Student Center Grand Ballroom).

UK’s students are dedicated servants to the campus and local community. This spring, the University was named to the 2009 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, federal recognition a college or university can receive for its commitment to volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement.

The Volunteer Fair consists of more than 50 representatives from various non-profit agencies across the Lexington area, serving to provide information regarding opportunities for volunteering, internships and involvement within the Lexington community. The event not only seeks to serve students, but also faculty and staff members at UK. The Volunteer Fair is a great way for UK’s campus to reach out and connect with its surrounding Lexington community, while also providing invaluable experiences for volunteers.
