'Inception' and 'Memento' Screened This Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 5, 2012) — The Late Night Film Series screens “Inception” at 10 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, and “Memento” at 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, in Worsham Theater of the University of Kentucky Student Center. Admission to both films is free.

“Inception” takes place in a not-so-distant future where technology allows the trespass of others’ dreamscapes. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief capable of stealing ideas and secrets from unsuspecting dreamers. His skill set has made him an international fugitive, unable to return home to his children. A special mission involving the once-thought impossible process of ‘inception’ could give Cobb the homecoming he’s longed for, but he must battle his own dark past and unraveling secrets to live to see it. (148 min. Rated PG-13)

“Memento” follows Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce), a man who suffers from short-term memory loss. He struggles relentlessly to hunt down the man he thinks killed his wife and avenge her murder. Told from end to beginning, director Christopher Nolan pulls off the incredible feat of reflecting Leonard’s disability in his narrative’s structure while blowing the minds of his audience along the way. (113 min. Rated R)

Worsham Theater is located on the first floor of the UK Student Center Addition.  All Late Night Film Series screenings are free to students, staff, faculty and guests. For more information, contact scfilmseries@gmail.com. All screenings are sponsored by the Student Center Director’s Office.
