LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 20, 2015)  The Cultural Arts Committee of the Student Activities Board will be displaying a floral sculpture each day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Monday, April 20 through Wednesday, April 22, on the Student Center Patio. The goal of this event is to enlighten the campus community on the world of floral design and floral art while honoring Earth Day.

In honor of Earth Day, professor Ruth Scott will be creating these floral sculptures. Scott is an agriculture professor at the University of Kentucky who teaches several floral design courses each semester. The sculptures are to serve as a reminder of the beauty that is found in nature.

“The Floral Sculpture is an initiative by the Cultural Arts Committee to promote environmental preservation and raise awareness in honor of Earth Day,” Taylor Hamilton, director of Cultural Arts, said. Hamilton also hopes that this event helps to promote the College of Agriculture, Food and Environment in an area on campus that it’s “geographically separated from.”
