Catflix and LNFS Present 'The Dark Knight Rises'

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 23, 2012) — "The Dark Knight Rises" is the third and final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman series. There will be three different showings beginning Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 9 p.m. and continuing Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 9 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 25, at 10 p.m. in Worsham Theater. This is a free event sponsored by the Student Activities Board Cinema Committee in collaboration with the Late Night Film Series.

After taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes, Batman was forced into a prolonged hiding. "The Dark Knight Rises" features his return to oppose a new criminal mastermind, Bane. Bane professes to return control of Gotham to its citizens, but instead imposes a dark anarchy by giving a “random” citizen a detonator for a nuclear weapon planted within the city. Batman realizes, however, that the bomb’s explosion is only a matter of time. He races against the clock to save Gotham from senseless slaughter and to restore law and order.

“'The Dark Knight Rises' is a truly captivating story,” said Brandon Payne, Cinema Committee chair. “We are thrilled to be able to share it with the student body. After a couple of hard weeks of study for midterms, enjoying a movie with friends is the perfect way to decompress.”

The Late Night Film Series is a student-led film initiative that features Hollywood blockbusters, classics, documentaries, and international films on Thursday and Friday nights at 10 p.m. Last year alone, nearly 10,000 students, faculty, and staff enjoyed the free showings.
