LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 8, 2011) – When Dr. Mock is present; it’s always a student affair. Come hear Robert Mock, Vice President of Student Affairs at UK, speak as part of the Student Activities Board’s (SAB) Final Word series on at 7 p.m. tonight, March 8, in the Student Center’s Center Theater. This event is free and sponsored by SAB.

Mock is the current Vice President of Student Affairs and came to UK from the University of Arkansas in July 2010. His dynamic background includes being an engineer at Pepsi and serving in the military. Known for his administrative skills, Mock holds degrees from Southern Illinois University, the University of Arkansas and Harvard University.

At UK, Mock oversees all of Student Affairs, which includes the Office of Student Involvement, the Student Center and Residence Life. Mock has made known that he is committed to UK’s Top 20 plan by continuing to integrate student life in to the academic experience. His Final Word topic “We Are Student Affairs” will focus on how getting involved on campus can affect your life.

“Dr. Mock really knows how to relate to students,” said Jill Baranowski, director of the SAB Engaging Issues Committee. “The last time I heard him speak his stories from his experiences at Pepsi, in the military and his life were funny, engaging and inspiring.”

The Final Word is a homegrown series that features professors, faculty and influential people from the UK community answering the question, “What would you lecture about if it were going to be the last one you ever give?”

Students and general public are encouraged to attend this free event.

The Student Activities Board (SAB) brings more than 100 events to the University of Kentucky annually that enhance the college experience by providing students, other members of the campus and the Lexington community with entertaining, educational or enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends.
