K Week: It’s Simply Spectacular!

of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 18, 2012) — This classic K Week event is sure to be nothing short of spectacular. The fun begins at Student Center Spectacular at 8 pm Sunday, Aug. 19, in the Student Center. The Student Center Spectacular is a free event sponsored by a number of offices and departments from across campus including the Student Activities Board, the Student Center, VIP Center and Student Government.

Students will experience all that the Student Center has to offer. Along with SAB, the Student Center is home to many student run organizations on campus including the Center for Community Outreach, Student Government, WRFL-FM, the Late Night Film Series and Wildcat Student Television. Spectacular will offer the opportunity for students to explore great ways to get involved on campus in new ways.

Activities include an oxygen bar, henna and caricature artists, inflatables in the parking lot, as well as games, novelty items and free food from dining services. Some additional events include SAB’s "World Is Your Canvas" in the Rasdall Gallery, LNFS free midnight screening of “The Hunger Games” and WRFL’s Dance Party in the Grand Ballroom from 8 p.m. until midnight.

“Student Center Spectacular is a great way to introduce new students to all the exciting things in the Student Center,” said Elijah Zimmerman, director of Campus Life. “It’s a K Week tradition that we at SAB are proud to continue to bring to students.”

SAB brings more than 100 entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff, and the greater Lexington community.
