Proud to be Hound Dog
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 9, 2012) - University of Kentucky alumni Nick Baute and Robert Ronk prove that 'Print’s Not Dead' with their letterpress shop Hound Dog Press in Louisville. The exhibit “Print’s Not Dead: An Exhibit of Letterpress” will be on display Feb. 9 to March 1, in the Rasdall Gallery. The Rasdall Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Baute and Ronk met at the University of Kentucky while they earned degrees in printmaking with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Baute began working under the Hound Dog Press name in 2004 and Ronk joined him soon after. Baute and Ronk will open the exhibit with a lecture at 6 p.m. Feb. 9, in the Student Center's Center Theater followed by a reception in the Rasdall Gallery. The first 50 people in attendance at the lecture will receive a one-sided color postcard printed by Hound Dog Press as a commemorative piece of artwork.
“This exhibit is unique in that it celebrates the success of two of Kentucky’s alumni,” said Shannon Ruhl, director of SAB's Cultural Arts Committee. “I’m excited to be able to bring back former students and show how the university has helped their careers.”
The Student Activities Board brings more than 100 entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff and the greater Lexington community.
