Submit Your Big Blue Blockbuster

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 9, 2011) — Go from to YouTube to the big screen by entering a short film in the Big Blue Blockbusters competition. Submissions are due by April 1. This event is sponsored by the Student Activities Board (SAB).
Submit your film to the Big Blue Blockbusters film competition. Teams of any size can register their films online at www.uksab.org. Information is currently available and registration begins on Monday, March 7.
A physical DVD of the short film(s) that are registered must be submitted to the SAB office, 204A Student Center, in addition to the online registration. The three categories for entries are: narrative, animation and documentary. Teams can enter up to one film in each category; films should be two to 10 minutes in length. Registration and submission of DVDs are due by Friday, April 1.
Films will be shown at the Big Blue Blockbusters event at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5 in Worsham Theater. Films will be judged by the cinema committee and the audience at the event. Prizes include a Flip Ultra HD camera for the winning film in each category, tickets to a local movie theater and much more.
“No amateur movie is too amateur for this contest,” said Brad Elliot, director of the SAB Cinema Committee. “If you would put it on YouTube, you can enter it.”
The Student Activities Board (SAB) brings more than 100 events to the University of Kentucky annually that enhance the college experience by providing students, other members of the campus and the Lexington community with entertaining, educational or enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends.
