Cram Jam Highlights Events to Celebrate Dead Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 25, 2011) – Students experience a lot of stress in the last week of classes. As finals week approaches, students have the chance to de-stress for a few hours and celebrate the end of the school year by attending a series of events highlighted by the first Cram Jam, sponsored by University of Kentucky Student Government, 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, at Memorial Coliseum.

Cram Jam will feature a cookout-themed dinner served by UK faculty and staff, free five-minute chair massages, a cupcake walk, putt-putt, tours of the Joe Craft Center, basketball shootout and corn hole tournaments.  Free T-shirts will also be available to commemorate the event.

“This is a great way for students to celebrate with their friends and take some time off from studying and writing papers,” said Joe Quinn, chief of staff for Student Government.

Quinn and others from Student Government developed Cram Jam as a way to serve students in the final weeks of the semester. Ryan Smith and Kelsey Hayes, out-going Student Government president and vice president, hope students will take advantage of the opportunity to take a break and enjoy SG’s hospitality.

“This is another example of fantastic collaboration between SG, Dining Services, Student Activities Board, UK Athletics, Campus Recreation, Academic Enhancement and UK faculty and staff. Kelsey and I look forward to welcoming students to the first of what we hope becomes a long-standing tradition at UK,” said Smith.

The exterior doors of Memorial Coliseum will open to students at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
