Study Abroad Scholarship Apps Due March 1

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 17, 2011) −University of Kentucky students interested in studying abroad for Summer or Fall 2011 have until March 1 to apply for a $750 or $1,500 "Education Abroad at UK" scholarship.

More than $150,000 is available this year in awards. A study abroad experience is an immense personal benefit, which also greatly increases a student’s appeal to future employers and graduate schools. Moreover, UK campus benefits as a whole when returning students share their international experiences with others.

“These scholarships show that cost does not have to be a barrier for students hoping to experience education abroad,” said Anthony Ogden, director of Education Abroad at UK. “There are thousands of dollars available each term for students based upon merit and need. Our advisers are also happy to help interested students research other education abroad scholarships, because our goal is to enable every UK student the opportunity to internationalize their academic program.”

Education Abroad also has a new, monthly information session on scholarships and financial aid options called "You Can’t Afford Not to Go." Look for details in the "announcements" area at www.uky.edu/intlaffairs/ea.
