A Week of Fun — DanceBlue’s Fall Blitz Week Begins

LEXINGTON, KY. (Sept. 22, 2017) — The beginning of the fall semester signifies the beginning of the DanceBlue season. In conjunction with National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, DanceBlue will host its annual Fall Blitz Week from Monday, Sept. 25, to Friday, Sept. 29.

What is Blitz Week?

Blitz Week is a week full of DanceBlue activities on UK’s campus that concludes with the end of team registration 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29. There is a theme for each day, along with interactive activities that emulate the spirit of DanceBlue. In addition, DanceBlue committee members will be present each day to chat or answer any questions.

What are the events?

Monday, Sept. 25, “Why do you DanceBlue?”:  Come to White Hall Classroom Building between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to tell us why you DanceBlue. Write your reason for being a part of DanceBlue on the chalkboard so we can celebrate all of the reasons that unify our campus! Also, use #WhyIDanceBlue on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to show your support.

Tuesday, Sept. 26, “FTK Balloons”: Come to White Hall or the Mining and Mineral Resources Building between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to take pictures with huge FTK balloons. There will be a DanceBlue backdrop and additional props, so you can show your DanceBlue pride by taking pictures and sharing them on social media!

Wednesday, Sept. 27, “DanceBluetique and Elena’s Lemonade Stand”: Come to the Mining and Mineral Resources Building between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and browse through some DanceBlue gear while sipping on Elena’s delicious lemonade!

Thursday, Sept. 28, “Gold Ribbon Ready”: Come to White Hall between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to help paint a gold ribbon out of thumbprints! While you’re there, feel free to pick up a gold ribbon for your shirt or backpack to show your support for DanceBlue and National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Use #GoldRibbonReady to help us spread awareness.

Friday, Sept. 29, “FTK Friday”: Come to the Mining and Mineral Resources Building between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to help write encouraging letters to kids in the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology clinic. Use #FTKFriday on social media and show your support for DanceBlue!

DanceBlue is the University of Kentucky's 24-hour, no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon that benefits the Golden Matrix Fund. The DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic opened its brand new facility in 2017 after a complete renovation funded solely from DanceBlue.
