LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 29, 2022)  DanceBlue has brought back one of its annual fundraising events, "No Shave November." This fundraiser has been live throughout November to incentivize the community to raise $25,000 by Nov. 29 (today). If the goal is met, several DanceBlue Clinic employees and committee members have pledged to shave their heads in solidarity with the kids at the clinic.

For the first time, the University of Kentucky DanceBlue Committee will be hosting an in-person event to round out its No Shave November fundraising event. On Nov. 30 at 6 p.m., DanceBlue Clinic staff, families and DanceBlue Committee members will meet in the Kentucky Children’s Hospital Theater for a head-shaving event. Marketing Chair Lexie Meade, who is coordinating the event, is looking forward to being in-person.

“I think it will be so special for the DanceBlue Committee to be in-person at the clinic for this event," Meade said. "It will be such a unique and special moment to share with the kids and their families to show just how much DanceBlue is with them and supporting them throughout their journey. We are all looking forward to it.”

DanceBlue is a student-led organization that fundraises year-round to support the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic. Money raised through DanceBlue funds clinic staff salaries, gas stipends and meals for patients and their families, family events, and more.

For those who wish to donate in support of No Shave November, all donations can be made online at http://danceblue.networkforgood.com. Please contact DanceBlue Marketing Chair Lexie Meade at marketing@danceblue.org for more information.

DanceBlue is a registered student organization at the University of Kentucky that works tirelessly all year, every year, to raise money for the kids! The money raised through DanceBlue fundraising efforts is donated to the Golden Matrix Fund, established to support the kids of the DanceBlue Kentucky Children’s Hospital Hematology/Oncology Clinic both today and well into the future through an endowment. DanceBlue funds also support the year-long fundraising engine and operations that underpin the mission, as well as providing funds to support research at the UK Markey Cancer Center.

Fundraising efforts are taken on by both the student organization itself, in the form of mini marathons, restaurant nights and events like the 5K run/walk, as well as the UK students who are hopeful participants in our grand finale event each year — the DanceBlue Marathon. The DanceBlue Marathon is a 24-hour, no sitting, no sleeping, DanceMarathon in which students can participate by raising money on their own for the kids.
