Five Advance for UKTF on Thursday at NCAA Championships

Results | High Jump Broadcast | Friday ESPN BroadcastEUGENE, Ore. – The No. 2-ranked Kentucky women’s track and field team advanced to five running finals, which will take place on Saturday, at the NCAA Outdoor Championship in front of 9,027 fans at Oregon’s Hayward Field on Thursday. The Wildcats will have six scoring opportunities to score points on Saturday, the final day of the meet. The women’s team will have off on Friday, when the men’s competition concludes.The Wildcats did not score points from any of their three field-event scoring opportunities on Thursday. Kentucky advanced the aforementioned five from a possible 13 running-event entries that started semifinals on Thursday.Kentucky’s 4x100m relay advanced to the university’s first NCAA 4x100m final since 1996. The team of Javianne Oliver, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn, Precious Hitchcock and Kianna Gray ran 43.55 to place second in heat three and advance automatically No. 5 overall.Camacho-Quinn came back an hour later and ran the top qualifying time of the 100m hurdles semifinal: 12.75Q (+1.7) to advance. The redshirt freshman also made the 200m final on time running 23.20 (+0.3) to advance on time as she was third in her heat.Freshman Kianna Gray ran 11.20Q (+1.3), the No. 3 qualifying time, to make her first NCAA final in the 100m.Kiah Seymour made the 400m hurdles final, running 55.89 to make the final on time as she was third in her heat. The time was the third fastest qualifying time overall.Points are scored at the NCAA Championships by finishing in the top eight of each event. The points are awarded on a 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis with 10 going to the winner and one point to eighth place.Decathlon quick recapTim Duckworth placed 11th in his first NCAA decathlon, three spots outside scoring position, with a score of 7596 points. Cameron Short did not start the 1,500m. Friday outlookPoints are available to Kentucky on Friday in the men’s high jump and 110m hurdles.For the second consecutive season the NCAA is utilizing a championships schedule featuring men’s teams on Wednesday and Friday and women’s teams on Thursday and Saturday. Caveats are multi-events as the men’s decathlon will was contested Wednesday and Thursday and the women’s heptathlon will be contested on Friday and Saturday as those events are generally expected to be completed in consecutive days.The broadcast informationThe 2016 NCAA Championships will be broadcast on the ESPN family of networks.Friday’s men’s finals will be broadcast from 8:30-11 p.m. on ESPN.
