Four Wildcats to Continue Competition at ITA Regional Championships

Tournament Central | Main Draw Singles | Main Draw Doubles MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Kentucky women’s tennis team will be well-represented on the penultimate day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional Championships after four Wildcats advanced on Saturday. Justina Mikulskyte/Lesedi Jacobs advanced in the doubles main draw, while Aldila Sutjiadi and Akvile Parazinskaite moved on in singles.On Sunday, UK’s doubles pairing of Mikulskyte/Jacobs will vie for a spot in the championship round of the doubles main draw after taking down Vanderbilt’s Fernanda Contreras/Emily Smith, 8-3, in Saturday’s semifinal round. The duo will square off against Vanderbilt’s Sydney Campbell/Christina Rosca. The match is slated for a 3 p.m. start. The winner will go on to face the winner of Sunday’s match between Indiana’s Madison Appel/Kim Schmidir and Vanderbilt’s Astra Sharma/Emma Kurtz in Monday’s championship round.After defeating both UT Martin’s Bucu Tari and Memphis’ Anki Wind in straight sets on Saturday, Parazinskaite will continue to Sunday’s quarterfinals to play Fernanda Contreras from Vanderbilt. The No. 23 preseason ranked singles player, Sutjiadi also advanced to the quarterfinals to face Vanderbilt’s Rosca. The senior earned a quick victory in her first match on Saturday, defeating East Tennessee State’s Ioanna Markesini. Her second victory didn’t come as easily, however, as she needed three sets to seal the deal, 7-6(14), 3-6, 6-4.The tournament will culminate Monday with championship rounds.
