Farmer’s ‘MarCat’ on Campus
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 11, 2011) - There is no better way to officially kick off spring than by grabbing some fresh produce and local goods at the Farmer’s MarCat from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, Monday, April 11, at Buell Armory. The event was originally scheduled on Hilltop Avenue, but due to threatening weather was moved to Buell Armory. This event is sponsored by the Student Activities Board (SAB).
The Farmer's MarCat, UK’s first on campus farmer’s market, will allow students, faculty and staff the opportunity to interact with Central Kentucky farmers as they purchase fresh, local produce and food products. The benefits and ease of purchasing local products can also be experienced at this mini farmers market.
“This will be a great opportunity for students to be introduced to Lexington’s unique local economy,” said Jill Baranowski, director of the SAB Engaging Issues Committee. “For students on the way to class, or as someone interested in sustainable lifestyles, a quick stop by the Farmers MarCat will be a great way to start the day.”
The Student Activities Board (SAB) brings more than 100 events to the University of Kentucky annually that enhance the college experience by providing students, other members of the campus and the Lexington community with entertaining, educational or enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends.Connect with SAB at http://www.uksab.org, follow on Twitter at http://twitter.com/UKSAB or like SAB on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/UKSAB.
