LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2017) Join the University of Kentucky Confucius Institute as it transports Central Kentuckians to the Far East for a day of Chinese arts and culture all in beautiful downtown Lexington. The institute’s third Global Confucius Institute Day will run 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, in Triangle Park. This event is free and open to the public.

Visitors to UK’s Global Confucius Institute Day will have the opportunity to try Chinese calligraphy; try on traditional Chinese costumes; taste authentic Chinese cuisine; demonstrate their prowess in a chopsticks skill competition; and enjoy a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. In addition, participants will be able to experience Tai Chi and Kung Fu demonstrations as well as traditional Chinese musical performances.

Serving as the Kentucky’s gateway to China, the University of Kentucky Confucius Institute (UKCI) seeks to enhance individuals’ understanding of China through programs and partnerships that center on Chinese language, culture, arts and business and that specifically reach out supporting universities, K-12 schools, and communities throughout the Commonwealth.
