March Prompts Special Offers at UK Clubs

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 20, 2017) — The clubs at the University of Kentucky are offering special membership opportunities as part of their March Club Madness promotion.

At The Club at UK’s Spindletop Hall, all UK faculty and staff have a standing offer of 50 percent off their initiation fee, a $375 value for a Family Resident Membership, with payroll deduction for dues beginning in May.  During March Club Madness that drops to one third of the initiation fee or $250, if a full year’s amount of dues is paid in advance.

For UK alumni and associate alumni, everyone is eligible to become an associate member of the UK Alumni Association and thus become eligible for membership in the UK Clubs.  March Club Madness offers one third off the initiation fee with six months’ worth of dues paid up front or two thirds off the initiation fee when paying a full year’s dues in advance.  Additionally, the initiation fee is waived for those in the categories of UK Alumni Association Lifetime Member and Golden Seniors.

If either the UK men’s or women’s basketball team makes it to the Final Four or wins the NCAA championship, new members of Spindletop will receive 20 percent to 40 percent of their paid initiation fee back in the form of account credit.  These special offers run through April 30.  Additional incentives for all new members in 2017 include two complimentary tickets to a club event and four pool guest passes for anyone who joins.  Spindletop offers the Barracudas championship-caliber swim and dive team, tennis, pickleball, chipping and putting greens, basketball, croquet, a Tiki Bar and more.  Also, the AllSports Camp is offered for kids aged 6 to 13 throughout the summer for members and prospective members.

The Hilary J. Boone Center at UK will give new members 50 percent off the one-time enrollment fee when they sign up by April 30. Club membership perks in the Boone Center include daily dining privileges featuring cuisine from the award-winning culinary team, the opportunity to host nearly any type of special event, free on-campus parking while at the club, dinner service prior to many of the performances at the Singletary Center for the Arts, and a calendar of club events for members’ enjoyment, including cooking classes offered by the culinary team.

The University of Kentucky clubs both hold membership in the Association of College and University Clubs, offering reciprocal privileges at nearly 80 college and university clubs across the United States and abroad.  Both clubs also partner with the University Club of Kentucky to offer members discounted golf opportunities.  University departments can establish complimentary UK departmental memberships at both clubs to enjoy the dining services, host meetings and retreats, and sponsor nearly any event for university-approved business purposes.  Additionally, both clubs offer the opportunity to connect with fellow members of the UK community for social, recreational and educational activities and events.

“The Club at UK’s Spindletop Hall is a historic gem and offers a club calendar of events that rivals any club of which I am aware,” said Gerald Marvel, general manager of both clubs. “We have tiered membership rates based on household composition, and offer a really good value, especially for our UK faculty and staff, with lots of summer recreational activities for all ages. As well, faculty and staff should take advantage of the opportunity to join the Boone Center with an enrollment fee of only $50 and amazingly affordable monthly dues of only $20 per month for a personal membership.  It’s well worth it to have access to one of the premier dining and event venues in the state."

Marvel also noted the Boone Center's versatile space, "Just this past week we hosted On the Table that brought together close to 100 people from all over Lexington to have conversations over a 7 a.m. breakfast about what we can do to continue to move the city forward.”
