Southern Sirens Bring Sass to the Bluegrass

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 10, 2015) — The all-female, Louisville-native trio Southern Sirens will bring a unique style to the University of Kentucky at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Memorial Hall Amphitheater, hosted by the Student Activities Board’s Concerts Committee. Southern Sirens' powerhouse vocals and distinct sound are sure to be a performance to remember.

Since their formation in 2013, the Southern Sirens have already made great achievements. They were selected as a Top 10 Finalist for Pepsi’s Southern Original Competition out of more than 5,000 entries, and they recently played BIGFOOT Music & Outdoors CMA week Showcase in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2014, they opened for Bruno Mars as part of the Congo 14 Festival.

"Southern Sirens will put on a lively outdoor performance,” stated James Collard, SAB director of concerts. “I'm excited for students from both Kentucky and out-of-state to learn more about local music through this concert."

Those who attend are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs to be comfortable at this outdoor event. The show is rain or shine; in the event of inclement weather, it will take place in Memorial Hall.

SAB brings more than 60 entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff, and the greater Lexington community.
