LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 21, 2018) — The University of Kentucky Women's Forum has announced its 2018 annual conference "Intention," featuring Colleen Swartz, chief nurse executive and chief administrative officer at UK HealthCare. This year's conference will be held Wednesday, Oct. 10, at the Gatton Student Center beginning with breakfast at 8 a.m. and ending with door prizes and an optional yoga session at 3:30 p.m.

The Women's Forum Annual Conference is open to all UK faculty and staff, and is an especially valuable opportunity for women to build their professional and personal skill sets. The conference also serves to better inform the UK community about the Women's Forum mission, goals and general membership.

The conference, geared toward learning from successful UK women, explores various facets of women's professional and personal lives while celebrating successes within the university. The conference will feature sessions including professional branding, work-life wellness, mindfulness-based art therapy for self-care, and appreciation in the workplace.

Individuals may register for the conference by completing the registration form at Women's Forum Conference Registration. Registration will be limited to the first 200 registrants. Registration will close on Sept. 28.

UK staff and faculty will login with their linkblue ID to be able to register for a reduced rate of $15. If you are a general member as of Sept. 14, 2018, check your email for your special rate. Conference attendees are encouraged to ask for financial support from their respective departments. Community members may register to attend at a rate of $25. The UK Women’s Forum Board is also pleased to announce conference scholarship opportunities for current UK staff and faculty, which will allow recipients to attend "Intention" free of charge. The conference scholarship is one way the UK Women’s Forum is holding true to its mission of empowering women. Completed applications must be received by 5 p.m. (EST), Sept. 28, 2018, and include all required documents, or will otherwise be considered incomplete and ineligible for consideration. The UK Women's Forum was created in 1991 and is an organization for all faculty and staff members of the university. Its mission is to exert a leadership role in empowering, validating, informing, including and celebrating all women employed through UK by addressing the challenges, communicating issues and recognizing successes within the context of the workplace.
