UK Federal Credit Union Announces Esports Lounge Open House

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 27, 2021) — The University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union (UKFCU) is excited to announce an open house to celebrate the partnership between UKFCU and the Esports Lounge at the University of Kentucky.

On Oct. 27, 2021, UKFCU will welcome students, staff, faculty, alumni and members of the local community to visit the state-of-the-art facility. The open house will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. and free parking will be provided by UKFCU at The Cornerstone garage. Beginning at 5:15 p.m., UKFCU President and CEO David Kennedy and UK’s Associate Chief Information Officer Heath Price will have remarks regarding this collaboration. Prizes, including gift cards to local restaurants, will be given away every 30 minutes. A grand prize of a Nintendo Switch Lite will be awarded to one lucky winner at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided and Halloween costumes are welcome.

“Investing in the Esports Lounge is a significant investment in the UK community and in the Lexington community as a whole. It’s a natural fit since education is at the heart of what both of our institutions strive to achieve. For UK, it is academic education, and for UKFCU it is financial education. Both are aimed at preparing our students for success in life,” Kennedy said.

"We are honored to call the UK Federal Credit Union a partner on the creation of the UKFCU Esports Lounge in The Cornerstone. This collaborative partnership is vital to creating a distinctive space that supports thoughtful community-building and engagement. UKFCU's partnership with us is leading a new path in collegiate esports, and we look forward to showing off all this exciting space has to offer,” said Price.

The partnership between the UK Federal Credit Union and the UK Esports Lounge began in 2019. The UKFCU Esports Lounge is located within the multiuse Cornerstone complex at 401 S Limestone in Lexington.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.

In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
