UK HR Benefits to host annual retirement conference Sept. 15-30
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 9, 2026) — University of Kentucky employees preparing for retirement or looking to better understand the retirement planning process are invited to participate in a series of events hosted by UK Human Resources throughout September.
The annual retirement conference, Sept. 15-30, will offer sessions covering Social Security, retiree health benefits, financial planning, postretirement employment and the transition to life after retirement.
“The retirement series is a valuable opportunity for employees nearing retirement to learn more about retirement income, health insurance and overall well-being,” said Gail Carbol, director of benefits in UK Human Resources. “Employees want a clear understanding of retirement eligibility, the process and the costs of their insurance.”
Sessions will also introduce employees to benefits and opportunities available after retirement, including options for continuing to work at UK and resources for navigating the personal and emotional aspects of retirement.
The retirement conference schedule includes:
- Tuesday, Sept. 15: Social Security update and retiree health benefits. This session will be available in person at the Gatton Student Center Harris Ballroom or via livestream. The Social Security presentation will not be recorded.
- Wednesday, Sept. 16: Set Your Retirement Date: Understand the Factors to Help Get You to Your Goal with TIAA.
- Thursday, Sept. 17: Working with STEPS After Retirement.
- Wednesday, Sept. 23: A GPS for Your Financial Journey with CAPTRUST.
- Thursday, Sept. 24: Maximize Social Security in Your Retirement Strategy with Fidelity.
- Tuesday, Sept. 29: New Passions for Lifelong Learning with the UK Office for Lifelong Learning.
- Wednesday, Sept. 30: Preparing Emotionally for Life’s Next Chapter with UK HR Work-Life and Well-Being.
