Veterans Workshop to Explore Education, Employment Opportunities

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 18, 2012) — Veterans of the U.S. armed services are encouraged to attend a free veterans education and employment workshop from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 20, at North East Christian Church in Lexington. The workshop is sponsored by the Bluegrass Area Development District in partnership with the University of Kentucky  Veterans Resource Center and the Central Kentucky Career Center. 

The morning session, from 8 a.m. to noon, will focus on education-related topics including selecting a major, military transcripts, college prep and testing, selecting a college, and applying for benefits.

The afternoon session, from 1 to 4 p.m. will consist of employment topics, such as career focus, creating a military-to-civilian resume, USAJOBS Web registration, and interview skills.
