LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 11, 2011) – A Kentucky family is honored on the national stage for a decision their daughter made at age 16 to be an organ donor.

Several weeks ago, UK Now first told you about the family of Missy Fields. UK HealthCare
joined officials from the Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA) in celebrating the lives of Missy and eight other local organ donor families whose loved ones made a difference in the lives of others through organ and tissue donation.

Missy Fields was memorialized in a “floragraph,” or artistic floral portrait, that adorned the Donate Life float in the 2011 Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, CA on Jan. 1, 2011.

In the video above, Missy’s family shares photos from the parade and talk about how Missy’s decision to donate life has helped them cope with the grief from her death.
