Wine Tasting to Support Lung Cancer Research

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 24, 2010) − A Danville-based lung cancer foundation, Big Daddy's Race for Time, will hold a wine tasting event to benefit lung cancer research at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, July 9 at the Community Arts Center in Danville.

The tasting is a "competitive wine-tasting event," with teams of four people each bringing four bottles of the same wine. Those attending the tasting will judge three of the four bottles from each team. At the end of the night, the winning team will receive the fourth bottle from all the other teams. Admission is $10 at the door, with all donations benefitting the foundation.  A silent auction will also be held during the event.

Big Daddy's Race for Time was founded by the family of Paul Feistritzer, a Danville businessman who died of lung cancer in 2008. The research money the foundation collects is matched by the state and goes to the University of Kentucky’s Markey Cancer Center and the University of Louisville. The foundation has designated $5,000 to support lung cancer immunotherapy research at the Markey Cancer Center.
