Tuesdays at Noon Series Continues Today with Hong Shao

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 12, 2013) - The University of Kentucky Arts in Healthcare's "Tuesdays at Noon" series continues this week with a performance by Hong Shao.

Shao is a professionally trained performer of the pipa, a four-stringed, pear-shaped lute. A traditional Chinese instrument, the pipa was introduced to China from Central Asia during the Han Dynasty (202 B.C. – 220 A.D.). Shao has been performing for Kentucky audiences since 1997, including numerous times at the University of Kentucky Singletary Center for the Arts, University of Kentucky Asian Center and the University of Louisville School of Music.

The event, part of a weekly collaboration between UK and the Kentucky Arts Council, will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the UK Chandler Hospital's Pavilion A Atrium Lobby.
