UK Dental Students Visit State Representatives

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 16, 2011) − Fourteen students from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry will travel to Frankfort to educate lawmakers about issues that will affect the delivery of oral health care throughout the Commonwealth.

Dental students from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry and representatives from the Kentucky Dental Association who share a similar passion to serve their fellow Kentuckians will also be in attendance.

This is the first time in nearly a decade that dental students from both of the state's dental schools have joined forces to educate the state legislature on oral health issues.

“We’re excited about the possibility of having a meaningful effect on public policy decisions while still in school,” said John Chamberlain, a third year dental student at UK. “It’s important for us not to wait until we graduate to work toward improving the lives of the general public.”
