of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 19, 2011) − The University of Kentucky's own celebrated art faculty will be showcased in the 2011 UK Art Department Faculty Show opening this week at the Tuska Center for Contemporary Art (TCCA). The exhibition runs from Jan. 20 through Feb. 10. An opening reception in honor of the artists will kick off the show from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, at the Tuska Center for Contemporary Art. The opening reception and exhibition are free and open to the public.

The 2011 UK Art Department Faculty Show will feature work from the entire full-time studio and art education faculty in the department. Representing a number of media and strategies of production, this annual show presents a community of artist-educators through their creative output. Paintings, photographs, video, performance, sculptural objects and installations are just some of the ways that the variety of visions of the individual faculty members manifest themselves within the walls of the Tuska Center for Contemporary Art. The faculty members are united by their need to share their work with the university community and the city of Lexington.

UK faculty exhibiting in the show are: Ruth Adams, Garry Bibbs, Dennis "Bones" Carpenter, Jeremy Colbert, Robert Dickes, Gerald Ferstman, Rae Goodwin, Marty Henton, Hui Chi Lee, Doreen Maloney, Matt Page, Ebony G. Patterson, Allan Richards, Arturo Alonzo Sandoval, Bobby Scroggins, Hunter Stamps, Dmitry “Dima” Strakovsky, Lynn Sweet, George Szekely and James Wade.

The Tuska Center for Contemporary Art is on the first floor of the UK Fine Arts Building, located on Rose Street. Gallery hours for the spring 2011 semester are noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.
