LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 23, 2019) — Do you love movies? Of course you do, but did you know the Gatton Student Center Cinema (GSCC) is THE place for quality film entertainment for UK students, faculty and staff? Whether you’ve heard of the Student Center Cinema yet or not, here are five fast facts to help you get to know GSCC a little better.

  1. Legacy: The GSCC is just the latest in a long tradition of showing films on campus. As early as 1948, students have been able to come together as a community and enjoy film screenings.
  2. Technology: GSCC has one of the most technologically advanced cinemas in the state. The theater features 4K video projection, and 60 speakers with Dolby Atmos surround-sound. With 564 seats in the theater, there’s plenty of room for you to bring a friend (or five).
  3. Product: With nearly 100 film screenings each semester, there’s sure to be something for everyone. From brand-new blockbusters to classic favorites and everything in-between.
  4. Prices: Admission is totally free! Just bring your UK student or employee ID. Want to bring family and friends? No problem. Students or employees with an ID are welcome to bring guests. The cinema shows movies 6 p.m. Wednesday, 6 and 9 p.m. Thursday, 6 and 9 p.m. Friday, and 6 p.m. Saturday.
  5. Giveaways: In addition to free admission, GSCC also offers free popcorn at every screening hosted in the Worsham Cinema. GSCC also has a punch-card reward system: each movie screening earns you one punch on your card, and after six punches you get a free T-shirt.
