Alumni Association Announces Board of Directors Officers

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 6, 2011) -- The University of Kentucky Alumni Association recently announced its 2011-2012 Board of Directors officers. They are Cammie DeShields Grant, president; George Ochs, president-elect; Brenda Gosney, treasurer; and Stan Key, secretary. The new officers took office July 1, 2011, and will serve until June 30, 2012.

Cammie DeShields Grant of Winchester earned an associate degree in human services from Lexington Community College in 1977 and a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Kentucky in 1979. She also received fifth year certification in elementary education (grades 1-8) in 1984. She is a member of the UK Alumni Association Board of Directors, served as treasurer in 2009-10, as president-elect in 2010-11, and now as president in 2011-12. She has served as chair of the Great Teacher/Scholarship, Club Development, Communications, and the Nominating for Board of Directors committees. Grant has served the Clark County UK Alumni Club in various capacities, including as a member of its board of directors, vice president and president. She was a recipient of the UK Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award in 2006. She is employed by the Clark County Board of Education as a speech/language pathologist. She and her husband, William Grant, are Life Members of the UK Alumni Association.

George Ochs of Louisville earned a doctor of dental medicine degree from UK in 1974.  He is a member of the UK Alumni Association Board of Directors and served as vice chairman of the Nominating for Board of Directors Committee in 2008-09 and chairman in 2009-10, on the Executive Committee, as treasurer in 2010-11, and now as president-elect in 2011-12. Ochs has served the Greater Louisville UK Alumni Club in various capacities, including president, secretary and vice president. He was instrumental in bringing several initiatives to the club, including recognizing outstanding juniors with a UK Book Award and the UK Counselor’s Dinner/Reception, expanding the scope of the club area. He was a recipient of the UK Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award in 2008. Ochs has been practicing dentistry for over 30 years. He and his wife, Page, are Life Members of the UK Alumni Association and UK Fellows.

Brenda Gosney of Alexandria earned a bachelor's degree in physical therapy from UK in 1970 and a master’s degree in higher and adult education in 1975. She has served on the UK Alumni Association Board of Directors since 2002 in numerous leadership positions including chairwoman of the Nominating for the Board Committee, chairwoman of the Membership, Club Development and Scholarship/Great Teachers Committees, and now as treasurer in 2011-12. Gosney has also served on the board of directors of the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati UK Alumni Club for over 20 years and has held the offices of president and secretary. She was a recipient of the UK Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award in 2010. Gosney retired as CEO of HealthSouth Northern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital. She is a UK Fellow and a Life Member of the UK Alumni Association. She is married to Dennis Gosney.

Stan Key of Lexington earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Kentucky in 1972. He also earned a master’s degree in education from Murray State University in 1977. He is the director of UK Alumni Affairs and serves as executive director and secretary of the UK Alumni Association.
