Panel of Experts to Discuss Health Care Reform
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 30, 2009) - With the debate over health care reform now constantly in the news, the Undergraduate Economics Society and the Department of Economics in the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics are to host a health care reform panel discussion at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, in Room 106 of White Hall Classroom Building.
"The current national debate of health care reform encouraged us to bring in our own experts at the university to discuss this issue. We want to connect health care with economics to see the full spectrum of possibilties and the effects that changes to the health care system will have on our lives," said Ken Troske, chair of the Department of Economics and director of UK’s Center for Business and Economic Research.
UK's health care reform panel will include three distinguished panelists: Mark Birdwhistell, UK HealthCare chief external affairs officer; Dr. Linda Kuder, a member of the executive board of AARP Kentucky and former associate director of the Sanders Brown Center on Aging; and Aaron Yelowitz, professor of economics in the Gatton College of Business and Economics.
The event is free and open to all members of the UK community.
