Bluegrass Battle for Blood Is Under Way

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 23, 2011) – Blood donors are rolling up their sleeves to prove they bleed Wildcat blue or Cardinal red during the Battle of the Bluegrass from now through Sept. 2, including at several special blood drive locations on the University of Kentucky campus from Monday, Aug. 29 through Thursday, Sept. 1.

During this annual Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) promotion, which helps ensure a good blood supply heading into Labor Day weekend, all donors will receive a Battle of the Bluegrass T-shirt and a chance to win a pair of tickets to the Louisville at Kentucky  football game on Sept. 17.

Everyone who registers to donate also will be entered to win a 2011 Toyota Tacoma, the big prize in KBC’s Pick Up the Blood Supply summer promotion that ends Sept. 16.

Donors will be asked to vote for one of the schools when they register to give blood.
