College of Arts and Sciences' Podcast Features Srimati Basu

LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 29, 2012) The College of Arts and Sciences produces podcasts that demonstrate work being done by the faculty and students in the college. Each week, UKNow will highlight a podcast. This week focuses on Srimati Basu, a professor in the departments of Gender & Women’s Studies and Anthropology, as well as a member of the Asia Center Steering Committee.

The UK Asia Center seeks to connect the University of Kentucky and India on an institutional level. To expand these efforts, Basu traveled to India  in February 2012 with other UK faculty to tour potential partner institutions. The tour was organized by the International Academic Partnership Program, part of the Institute of International Education, and took her through Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

In this podcast, Basu discusses the trip, the Asia Center's role in forming institutional partnerships and the challenges that resulted from the differences between the Indian and U.S. educational systems.
