LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 29, 2016) -- Shoulder to Shoulder Global will participate in the GoodGiving challenge, an online giving campaign organized by the Bluegrass Community Foundation, Nov. 29 through Dec. 31.

Shoulder to Shoulder Global (STSG) is an organization created within the University of Kentucky that incorporates other academic, healthcare and community partners and seeks to improve the health and well-being of impoverished and underserved communities globally.

The initial focus of STSG has been in Santo Domingo, Ecuador, where there is a year-round health clinic staffed often by UK HealthCare volunteers who provide primary care for the community. Other STSG volunteers help create economic opportunities and improve education, public health and access to clean water. STSG seeks to provide and promote educational, service and research opportunities for all its partners.

Donors can choose a nonprofit to support and make a donation at www.bbgives.org . More than 100 nonprofits in the Lexington area will be working together to raise funds to meet community needs and make a difference. Since its inception, the GoodGiving challenge has raised over $5.4 million. Last year alone, the challenge raised more than $1.3 million dollars for outstanding nonprofits in central and eastern Kentucky.

Donations made to Shoulder to Shoulder Global will support its mission to educate while providing care to underserved communities in Santo Domingo, Ecuador.
