Healthy Restart FAQs Answered for UK Faculty, Staff and Students

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 11, 2020) — As University of Kentucky approaches the first day of in-session classes Aug. 17, the university continues to field questions related to specific elements of the campus restart plan. Below are three of the questions most commonly asked by university faculty and staff.

Q: Who should participate in UK's daily screenings?

A: Every UK student, faculty member and staff member who will be on campus will be asked to conduct a daily screening. More information about the daily screening can be found here.

Q: Is student compliance with the university's restart plan covered in the Student Code?

A: For the Fall 2020 semester, components of the Student Code related to physical safety and health will be enforced in alignment with guidelines designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. If someone creates a condition that harms another person(s) or creates an environment that may reasonably harm another person’s health and safety, such as hosting a large gathering that does not follow state and local guidance, Code of Student Conduct 6. L. Harm and Threat of Harm and/or 6. AA. Violations of Law or other UK policies may apply.

Q: Will UK faculty and staff COVID-19 testing numbers be reported online?

A: Yes, eventually. Once the first tests complete processing, the university will share the results. Currently, UK has only received the results of student testing that began last week. On Monday, Aug. 10, the university reported results from testing through Friday, Aug. 7. As of Aug. 7, of the 7,027 students tested, Wild Health reported 41 positive cases and a 0.6% positivity rate on campus.
