Help Two Great Causes With One Pledge

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 5, 2012)WUKY 91.3 FM, the University of Kentucky's NPR station, is hosting its ”Winter Pledge Drive” now through Friday, Dec. 7. The station has partnered with Lexington Farmers Market to raise money for WUKY’s programming fund and help feed the hungry. For every $1,000 raised by WUKY during the campaign, the Lexington Farmers Market will donate $100 worth of food product to God’s Pantry Food Bank.

Both WUKY and God’s Pantry Food Bank cover the Bluegrass with their services. Part of WUKY’s mission is to keep listeners informed about the needs of the community and because God’s Pantry Food Bank emergency food assistance has risen by over 30 percent the past three years, WUKY Development Director Gail Bennett said the radio station felt this was an immediate need facing the community.

"As one of Central Kentucky’s leading news sources, we provide you with trusted local news to global events and your financial support makes this delivery possible," Bennett said. "On a similar note, God’s Pantry’s Food Bank provided over 22.8 million pounds of food and groceries to 275 nonprofit organizations to feed the hungry throughout their 50-county service area."
