KSBDC Receives Honor From National Group

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 10, 2012) — The Kentucky Small Business Development Center (KSBDC) was named the 2012 National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Corporate Partner of the Year at the annual Winners’ Circle Awards presentation held recently.

The NAWBO Corporate Partner of the Year Award recognizes an organization offering outstanding support to women business owners in Lexington. Recipients of this award meet or exceed the following criteria: 

  • Supports its local NAWBO chapter through finances, advisory functions and in-kind supplies or services
  • Fosters the economic growth and stability of women-owned business on a local or state chapter level
  • Supports, strengthens and enhances NAWBO's place in the local or state business community
  • Develops initiatives to increase the public’s understanding of the importance of women-owned businesses to the local and state economy

“We are honored to be recognized as NAWBO’s Corporate Sponsor of the Year,” said KSBDC State Director Becky Naugle. “The KSBDC is proud to support women business owners in the Commonwealth and partnering with NAWBO serves our mission well.”

This year NAWBO celebrated its 20th anniversary.  Event keynote speakers were First Lady Jane Beshear and Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes.

The KSBDC is a network of 15 offices located throughout the state that help existing and start-up businesses succeed by offering high quality, in-depth and hands-on services. Through special programs and partnering with organizations like NAWBO, the KSBDC is able to reach out to women-owned businesses across the Commonwealth and provide services tailored to their unique needs.
